Hey friend!
I'm going to keep it real with you.
I can almost guarantee that every excuse you've made about why you can't move forward on any of your big ideas, is rooted in fear.
I guarantee it.
A few months ago, I decided that I was going to host an in-person wellness event this upcoming May. While I'm really excited about bringing women entrepreneurs together, ask me if I have made any real steps towards bringing the event to life. 🥴
Up until a couple of weeks ago, I kept telling myself, "This isn't the right time." and "I have a lot of other more important things to do first."
Want to know how I know these were just irrational fears? The hardest part of hosting the event (finding the venue) has already been covered. All I had to do was create a link, invite some guests and promote it.
I sent my best friend a message sharing how I really wanted to make the event happen but didn't think that I had enough time to pull it off and she literally snatched my edges with one simple sentence,
"You don't have time to be afraid."
Damn!
This year is already moving fast. Spring is quickly approaching and as soon as we know it, the holidays will be back around.
If I want to make this event happen and also hit the big goals I've set for myself, I needed to do this afraid.
See we often use excuses like "I don't know how." or 'I don't have the resources." when in fact, we currently live in a world where you can find the answers to everything within a few clicks on your phone.
So you're telling me, if you can put in the effort to learn what you don't know or ask for help from those who do know, what is it that's stopping you from putting forth the effort? 👀
It's fear.
The fear of failing. The fear of embarrassing yourself. And maybe even the fear of success.
Most of the excuses we make is because we're simply afraid of the outcome.
But like my best reminded me, you literally don't have time to let fear hold you back. The world, your audience and time are going to keep moving on without you. And you don't want to be in the same place you're in now in a year, wishing you would have moved faster than you did.
Here's 3 quick tips to begin moving beyond fear:
Be real with yourself and identify the fear.
Ask yourself if this fear is rational or irrational (I talk about that more here)
Ask yourself what's the worst that could happen if you pushed past fear. Most of the time, the outcome isn't as dramatic as we make it seem. 🤷🏽♀️
Learning how to navigate through fear is also a big part of your wellness journey. With fear comes anxiety and with anxiety comes poor mental and physical health.
Do what you need to do today to stop letting fear get in the way!
Cheers to a restful week!
