Hey friend!
Have you ever sat down to take a break, a nap or just a quiet moment to yourself and immediately felt guilty about it?
That was me this past Monday 🥴
I'm currently in a very busy season. I'm actively promoting and finalizing details for the Mind Body Brand LIVE event, I'm still on the job hunt, I'm making final edits to my book, all while trying to hold things together at home.
Needless to say...Im TIRED!
On Monday, after a long weekend of parenting, outings and adulting, I desperately needed just an hour to myself to breath. I got in bed, curled up under my covers and as soon as I closed my eyes, the voices of guilt hit me like a brick.
"How can I lay there knowing my to-do list is full."
"You're just wasting time by doing nothing."
"You need to be productive."
While those guilty voices fought hard to make me ignore the rest I needed, I instead listened to a meditation to calm my thoughts and enjoyed my nap.
Friend, here's what I've learned about guilt. Guilt stems from the belief that what you're doing is wrong.
But there is nothing wrong with giving your mind or body what it needs so that you can continue to thrive. It is not wrong of you for honoring your needs instead of pushing yourself to the limit.
So the next time you begin to feel guilty for not pushing through that to-do list or simply taking a break, I want you to remember that rest isn't wrong, it's a necessity!
Cheers to a restful week!
