Hey friend!
One of my non-business goals for this year was to spend more time playing, learning and allowing myself to explore different hobbies.
In the past, I would always tell myself that I didn't have time for a hobby and that any time I spent learning something new had to be directly related to growing my business. (damn hustle culture 🥴)
And when I did try to focus on having a hobby, of course I would find a way to make money from it (capitalism at its finest).
But in an effort to really be intentional about separating my life from my work, I promised myself to dive into different creative things that find me joy.
Plus, having a hobby has been proven to positively affect your mental health. According to research, people with hobbies are a lot less likely to suffer from stress, low mood and depression.
So far this year I have taught myself how to create texture art, I have a daily coloring routine and I've fallen deep into a digital planning rabbit hole. Am I great at any of these things? Absolutely not. But I've noticed over the past couple of months that I look forward to my down time when I can just create without the pressures of getting it right or worrying about selling.
It's a different type of rest that I had no idea that I needed.
As you close out this week, I encourage you to think about your normal weekly routine and decide where you can fit in more time for rest and creativity. I promise your mind will thank you for it.
Cheers to a restful week!
