Hey friend!
It has been over a year since I decided that I would no longer work as a business coach. A year ago I took my biggest pivot to date and quit the career that I had known for eight years. And still, to this day it has been one of the best decisions that I’ve made for many reasons.
Over this past year, I have learned so much about myself and have worked hard to figure out who I am outside of the work that I was doing. I’ve learned more about what it means to not only rest but how to intentionally make rest a part of my daily life. This much-needed break has given me a lot of clarity around what success specifically looks like for me and if I were to dive back into entrepreneurship, how my new boundaries would affect the way that I do business.
This entire year I’ve been focused on, of course, healing from the burnout that I had experienced. But also realigning my business goals with my physical and mental needs.
And I’ve pushed myself into becoming a student all over again. As I’ve dived deeper into the wellness industry as a whole, one of the common traits that I often see in this industry is the lack of actionable advice that goes deeper than the surface and encouragement to help people discover what works for them.
This is to no shade to those in this industry (I know a lot of incredible people in this space who are doing amazing work!), but so much of what is being shared online is often either very woo-woo or surface-level. I also have a problem with wellness pros selling the one-size-fits-all dream, but that’s a topic for a different day.
So while I don’t see a future where I will be a coach again, I am still very much a coach at heart and understand how valuable it is to give my audience practical action steps that they can use to dig a little deeper than just being told to “make time for self-care”.
As I’ve been learning and healing, I’ve also been documenting. And over the past few months, I’ve created a 5-step framework for implementing more rest and self-care into your life and business. This framework is made up of steps that I have taken clients through in my past life and steps that I have found critical during my own healing journey. This framework is practical but leaves space for you to dig into figuring out what you need and how to create a self-care routine that fits your life, business, etc.
THE MIND BODY BRAND FRAMEWORK
STEP 1: REFLECTION
Before you can create a plan for how you need to best take care of yourself, it’s important to get a good understanding of where you currently are. In this step, you’ll spend some time identifying and acknowledging the signs of stress and burnout in your life.
You’ll answer questions like:
“What instances do I feel overwhelmed or mentally drained?”
“And what aspects of my life or business, such as work, family, and personal commitments, do I frequently experience stress or pressure?”
The goal of this step is for you to get an understanding of what needs to change and what old habits you don’t want to slip back into.
STEP 2: DEFINE SUCCESS
Success is not one-size-fits-all. Many entrepreneurs end up burnout because they are chasing someone else’s idea of success. Ask me how I know. 🥴 In this necessary step, you will consider your values and aspirations beyond societal expectations and get clear on what truly brings you joy and fulfillment. If you’re constantly chasing after a dream that you don’t even want, stress is going to keep chasing you.
STEP 3: CREATE YOUR TOOLKIT
Now that you’re clear on what hurdles you need to overcome and what you desire out of your life and business, it’s time to create your Self-Care Toolkit. You’ll build your toolkit based on how you desire to nurture your mind, body, and spiritual health. Because no one self-care routine is the same, you’re encouraged to explore different practices and experiences to find what resonates with you the most.
STEP 4: MAKE TIME & SET HABITS
Creating your toolkit is one step, but actually keeping up with a routine and making rest a part of your daily life is another. This is often the part that a lot of us struggle to keep up with. In this step of the framework, we focus on setting boundaries around your time so that rest is made a priority. You also focus on creating better daily habits such as morning and evening routines and how to set and communicate your new boundaries with those around you.
STEP 5: INTEGRATING REST INTO YOUR BUSINESS
Lastly, we dig into how your business will need to shift in order to fit your new lifestyle. Here you’ll assess your current business and identify the areas where rest can be integrated without compromising productivity. This is where you will begin to set realistic work hours and boundaries (great for those who are still maintaining a full-time job). You’ll decide what areas of your business you can outsource and learn how to incorporate mindful moments into your workday. This is where the big shifts and pivots happen for the better!
Again, this framework is a guide for women entrepreneurs who are serious about adding more time for rest into their day. I’ll never get up here and tell you what you should be doing but by going through this framework, you’ll be able to create a solid plan that you can implement and shift as you grow.
Over the next few weeks, I’m excited to share more about this simple framework and another big project that I have been working on! So if you’re not already subscribed, be sure to do so so you don’t miss out!
Cheers to an incredible week!
