Issue #65: A simple framework for realistically adding time for rest into your day
How to prioritize your mind and body while still being productive in your business PLUS a free download!
Hey friend!
Let’s be real for a moment. You already know how important it is to add more time for rest and self-care into your day. You also know that you’re probably not doing a good job of it.🥴 But just knowing that you need to take better care of yourself isn’t enough for you to make it a daily priority. Especially when you’re busy running your business, managing the chaos of everyday life, and just trying to stay afloat.
We all know that we need to focus more intentional time on ourselves but HOW do you make that happen when you already feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day?
It’s as simple as focusing on your mind, body, and brand FIRST. (see what I did there? 😂)
I call it the MBB Daily 3. A simple three-step framework to ensure you’re making time for rest and prioritizing what matters before getting lost in the demands of your day.
The framework looks like this:
MIND: Spend 10 minutes focusing on a mindfulness activity. This could be journaling, doing a quick meditation, or reading.
BODY: Spend 20 minutes doing some type of movement. A long stretch, taking a walk, a yoga session, etc.
BRAND: Spend 30 minutes doing at least one revenue-generating activity for your business. This may look like updating a sales page, writing sales emails, or following up with potential clients.
Of course, you can add other tasks to your day, but your daily 3 should be your top priority before you begin to touch anything else.
Here’s what my Daily 3 looks like on a typical day.
MIND: I spend at least 10 minutes doing my morning check-in, a prompt-based journaling template that is included in the digital planner that I use. The prompts allow me to brain-dump my thoughts and assess how I’m feeling before starting my day which gives me more mental space to focus on other tasks.
BODY: This varies day to day depending on my mood but I will often either do a quick yoga or barre session on the Peloton app or if it’s nice outside I will go for a walk.
BRAND: In this season I’m working on new products for Mind Body Brand (hint, hint) so my revenue-generating activities often look like making product edits.
Once I have my Daily 3 out of the way, I can confidently move into taking care of those around me and crossing off other to-do’s knowing that I have prioritized myself. And I’m not scrambling for a handful of minutes to focus on ME at the end of the day.
Keep in mind that all you need is one hour a day to put a little more focus on you. And you don’t have to overthink this framework to make it effective. If your mindfulness time looks like spending 10 minutes coloring, do that. And you don’t need to go invest in an expensive gym membership if it’s not within your means. One of my most practical ways to get movement in is when I tie exercise into another task. Like playing hide and seek with my daughter or when I’m cleaning. I’ll cut on a good playlist and sweep, vacuum, and mop and by the time I’m done I’m sweating and have successfully moved my body for at least 45 minutes. Two Bird – One Stone!
So I already know the first excuse that’s probably about to pop into your head –
“I don’t know what type of activities to do during this time?”

Cheers to a restful week!
