How would your life change for the better if you spent 365 days focusing on your goals, your ideas, or your big vision?
I ask you this because I am a quitter. To the point where quitting and pivoting has become a part of my personal brand.
If I feel like a project or business is no longer serving me or going to get me closer to my ultimate goal, I swiftly let it go.
What can I say…I am a free-spirit who flows towards what catches my interest.
But the issue is that my lack of consistency has also stunted my professional growth in a lot of ways. And that lack of growth has been a key component behind a lot of the anxiety that I feel daily.
Through a recent therapy session, I learned that my urge to pivot has less to do with following my calling and more to do with my love for a challenge. I love the thrill of building something from scratch and the high I feel once it’s complete. The creative building phase is where I thrive, but once the project or product is launched, my mind immediately wants to chase something new.
But with pivoting so quickly, I never give the idea that I have enough time to grow. Not only am I doing myself a disservice, but I’m also doing those who need what I have to offer a disservice, too.
So, instead of chasing the high through my business, I’ve decided to try and channel that energy into exploring new hobbies. So far, I’ve taken up doing my own nails, bullet journaling, and learning how to use Procreate. And for 2025, my big goal is to fully commit to building Doing Everyday Well. That looks like continuing to write here every week, launching the community app 👀, and building out my product suite.
I can’t change how my mind works, but like I mentioned before, I can change where I direct that energy.
Now, don’t get me wrong, many of the pivots I’ve experienced have been well worth it. Closing up my coaching business is still one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. But I've also let a lot of incredible ideas go that deserve to be nurtured properly.
So I want to ask you today, what would your life look like if you committed to fully focusing on one goal for an entire year? What’s stopping you from fully committing?
Let me know in the comments!
Cheers to a restful week!
