It’s been a month since I wrote my last newsletter. Outside of my normal December break, this has been my longest stretch of inconsistency. I also haven’t posted on Youtube or kept up with using social media intentionally like I had planned.
And I am ok with it all.
2025 has already been a year of surprises. From finding out that the wrist I hurt back in October 2024 was indeed broken, to having surgery on it a week later, to now being in a full cast for seven weeks.
And did I mention that the cast is on my dominant hand? 🥴
Instead of trying to keep up with my normal flow, which was honestly causing me so much anxiety, I decided to lay low and keep my focus on one project until I felt up to doing more.
I know that a lot of how we perceive an entrepreneurs ability to run a successful business is based on what we are shown. But sometimes showing the process while we’re in the depths of it can be more of a distraction than inspiration. There are so many moving parts to building and running a business that I believe many of us overlook because we’ve been told that everything must be made into content.
But what I’ve learned over the past month is that it’s ok to keep some things to yourself. You don’t owe anyone a look into your life or business whether it’s good or bad.
This reminds me of the saying, “Share the scars not the wound.” I believe that if you do want to inspire others through your vulnerability, a lot more can be learned from you once you’ve made it through to the other side.
It’s ok to share the victory and not the battle.
It’s ok to share the result and not the entire process.
It’s ok to share the final decision and not the pros and cons list.
It’s ok to go through a season of laying low and building slow.
Now that I am somewhat on the other side of it. I spent this past month knee deep in completing a grant application that would provide me with $10,000 to build something awesome for Doing Everyday Well. This application stretched me and made me realize that there is still so much about running a business that I have no clue about. I won’t know if I won the grant until April but the project that I pitched is almost at a point to be shared!
And whatever season that you’re currently in, I hope that you are taking time out to fill yourself up. 🔋
Cheers to a restful week!

WHAT’S YOUR CAPACITY?
I fully believe that most entrepreneurs end up burnout because they plan out their weeks based on what they THINK they need to do vs. what they actually have the CAPACITY to do! That’s why I created The Capacity Calculator – a free self-assessment tool designed to help entrepreneurs measure their mental, emotional, and physical capacity before planning and starting each week!
Thank you so much for that! As a lifelong entrepreneur, sometimes it hard to recognize when you should push yourself and when you should not. I am recognizing that the older I get, I am reminded that whatever God has for you is for you, even if it takes longer according to your timeline. Keep up great work!!
As always, it’s like you’re reading my brain!😂😂 I’m definitely in my laying low era for sure. And at first I felt bad about it, now I see how necessary it is for me in this new season of my business and life! Thanks for writing this Alisha! So on time 🙌🏽❤️
